Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has established himself as a true statesman who has given his life to service the needs of this nation. In 1970, he started his service in the forces and became the Commander of the Army in 2005. As the Commander of the Army, he made a promise to end the civil war that lasted decades. In 2009, General Sarath Fonseka, delivered on his promise and defeated the LTTE after 26 years of civil war. He now stands as the first and only Field Marshal in Sri Lankan history.

ෆීල්ඩ් මාර්ෂල් සරත් ෆොන්සේකා මහතා මේ ජාතියේ අවශ්‍යතා වෙනුවෙන් තම ජීවිතය කැප කළ සැබෑ රාජ්‍ය නායකයකු ලෙස තහවුරු වී ඇත. 1970 දී හමුදා සේවය අරඹා 2005 දී යුද හමුදාපති ධූරයට පත් වූ ඔහු යුද හමුදාපතිවරයා ලෙස දශක ගණනාවක් පැවැති සිවිල් යුද්ධය අවසන් කරන බවට පොරොන්දුවක් දුන්නේය. 2009 දී ජෙනරාල් සරත් ෆොන්සේකා තම පොරොන්දුව ඉටු කර වසර 26 ක සිවිල් යුද්ධයෙන් පසු එල්ටීටීඊය පරාජය කළේය. ඔහු දැන් ශ්‍රී ලංකා ඉතිහාසයේ ප්‍රථම සහ එකම ෆීල්ඩ් මාෂල්වරයා ලෙස නැගී සිටියි.

අද ඔහු සිය දෙවන මෙහෙයුමේ යෙදී සිටී. මේ මෙහෙයුම මේ ජාතිය ආ ගමන් මග වෙනස් කිරීමයි. මේ දූෂිත දේශපාලන ක්‍රමය සහ වැරදි කළමනාකරණය මේ ජාතියේ විපත්වලට මූලික හේතුව වී තිබේ. සැඟවුණු න්‍යාය පත්‍ර නැත, මේ රට යහපත් අතට හැරවීමට ඇති එකම අවස්ථාව පමණි.
